Maldives Holidays : Insects & Reptiles

Natural fauna is sparse on the Maldives - giant fruit bats, colourful lizards and the occasional rat. Domestic animals include cats, a few chickens, goats and some rabbits. The most exciting wildlife is under the water! In our experience mosquitoes are rarely a problem as there is little stagnant water on most of the islands. However, you may want to take some repellant just in case!
